It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a wonderful place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be, reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! Everyone is welcome. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn over at The Book Date.
Today I’m doing (yet another) monthly round up. October proved to be a productive month with 26 books read, even though I had a week of struggling to finish anything. I started and abandoned 4 or 5 books at one point. My reading included a lot of what I’d call “cotton candy” stories – very sweet and tasty on the tongue, but no real depth and substance. However sometimes that’s what the mind and/or soul needs.
For the first time in a VERY long time less than half the books I read were arc books, with just 12 out of the 26. If you count in the beta read, it left half as “free choice” reads, and I’m much happier that I’m no longer overwhelming myself with arc commitments.
I found a great new-to-me author in Lauren E. Rico and will definitely be reading more of her work in future.
Most of the books I rated 4 stars or more, there were only two that I didn’t really enjoy, so a very pleasing month all around.
Both of these are for a Goodreads Book of the Month read. I’m also considering some re-reads too.
What are you reading?
