Life Last Week

We began the week on the south coast, Newhaven to be exact, which is somewhere between Brighton and Eastbourne. It’s a part of the UK we have never explored before but one we have definite plans to return to in warmer weather! (first two photos)

Seaford is a sleepy town just a little further along the coast (next two photos) and a few miles east of that is Beachy Head – Britain’s tallest cliff at 531m above sea level. You can get an idea of that height from the bottom photo – that is a full size lighthouse down there! I had to kneel on the ground to get close enough to take the photo. I did consider laying down to get closer to the edge but there are regular rock falls from this stretch of coastline due to the fact the cliffs are made of chalk, which is constantly eroded by the sea.

    1. It was surreal to see it in the flesh – it looked so small! I did have to get on my hands and knees to take the photo – there was no way I could stand that close to the edge, nor is it safe to.

  3. Your photos are great. I have always wanted to visit England. The lighthouse is especially neat. I can see why you are eager to go on another vacation.

    You certainly had a wonderful reading month. Ten books read is fantastic.

    I wonder when our clocks move back. I love the fall back, but the spring forward? Not so much.

  4. Amazing photos – I love seeing them. I noticed about that and our clocks don’t go back until next week, weird. It won’t matter to Lulu, she will want to get up at the usual time no matter what the clock says!

  6. I thought you were going to say the first picture was of the White Cliffs of Dover. I’ve actually been there. I guess many coastal areas in the UK have white cliffs. Or is it just along a particular area? Anyway, the photos are gorgeous ❤️

    1. They are only really found in Dover, in East Sussex (where we were) and on the Isle of Wight, so not that common. We didn’t even realise they were there until we got to the coast, and they are absolutely stunning to see.
