11/1 Resolutions/words of the year – do you do them?
What are they for 2022?
I don’t do “words” for the year, it’s all a little too hippy and new age-ish for me personally, but then I can’t cope with Instagram and Tik-Tok either! I’m someone who likes clear definitions, boundaries, expectations etc, so I find the whole idea of a word for the year too fluffy and esoteric. If each word came with a set of 10 rules to follow though, I would probably be jumping in with both feet!
For many years now I have avoided resolutions, as they always seem to be setting oneself up for failure rather than success. However I do always start the year with some general aims and hopes, so one from my personal life is to take my daughter to Scotland for a holiday, another is to get some artwork re-framed and displayed around my home.
In bookish terms I want to reduce how many arcs I read, starting by trying to limit it to a maximum of one in any 7 days. If I can do that then over time I might even reduce the number further. I’m hoping e-books from the library will be a good way to fill my schedule, as well as being a good way of trying new authors and genres.
Do you have plans and resolutions? What, if any, is your word for the year?

I don’t do words or formal resolutions either but now I’m kind of curious what it would look like to do the word thing. I’m imagining it would get pretty annoying after a while. 😂🤷🏻♀️❤️

I wouldn’t remember it after a week so it would be pointless me even trying. 😁

Those sound like wonderful goals, and I hope they go well! Scotland sounds like a wonderful visit, and artwork :):)

Nice choice! I hope you get to try new authors/genres to your heart’s content 💕. I don’t do strict resolutions either, but I must be very hip because I’m one of the ‘words’ people 😂 (my 2022 word is “patience”).

I also would forget the word within 4 days and not think about it again until June….

I never did resolutions, but I have picked up on the word idea recently. For me it’s more the idea of how I want to live my live (I picked NOW for living in the present). I have goals to help me get there, but trying to remind myself daily that I need to be more present is defined by the word.
