Life Last Week

We enjoyed a beautiful walk alongside the Erewash canal and through some gorgeous countryside last week. I find that spending some time with nature helps to recharge my batteries and clear my mind of stresses and worries. The weather has been very kind so far this October, pleasantly mild with short sharp downpours but not days and days of rain.
Thank you for all the well wishes regarding our move at work. Everything was packed and transported, ready for us to unpack and set up at the end of the mid-term break. Unfortunately I missed the last day of this as I had possible covid symptoms. Given my daughter has a confirmed case and my son tested positive using one of the use-at-home tests my boss decided it was safer for everyone else if I stayed at home. I’m still testing as negative but tell that to my sore throat, cough and runny nose.
My husband and I are heading up to North Yorkshire for a few days away. Fingers crossed the weather continues to stay nice!
Last Weeks Books
This weeks books were somewhat of a mixed bag. Anthesis was an arc by a debut author and whilst it wasn’t a bad read I did struggle to understand the motivation of the main character. The Pleasure of Panic was a TBR challenge read that surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. At under 200 pages it was a fairly quick read but it managed to both entertain me and convince me that the couple were in love.
My favourite read of the week was a library book and it will also be a favourite read for the year. I laughed and cried at The Imperfect Art of Caring, loving every single moment of reading it.

Agatha Raisin decides to leave her PR job in London to enjoy the delights of an early retirement in a quiet village in the Cotswolds, where she soon gets bored but is eager to fit in. Showing off her “talent” in the parish cooking competition should make her popular -only if her quiche didn’t kill the judge. Thus, Agatha must reveal the bitter truth: she bought the fatal quiche from a caterer. To clear herself, she has only one solution: identify the murderer.
Agatha Raisin is a novel, strange, Miss Marple. An unscrupulous and pugnacious fifty-year-old woman, both maddening and endearing, she will make you die laughing!
Looking forward to…

… some welcome time off work.
… reading more library books.
… exploring North West Yorkshire.

Before I even read what you had to say about The Imperfect Art of Caring, the title was screaming to me. I have to find out more about this one. Oh, boo! Looks like. UK release (no ebook on Amazon). I hope you and the family are all feeling better.

Oh, that’s disappointing, I hope it’s released in the USA soon – I was lucky enough to borrow this from my library.

Sadly it hasn’t been released in the US, I don’t understand why publishers do that.

Your walk looks beautiful, Lousie, especially that view of the river. Thanks for the recommendation of The Imperfect Art of Caring (as a caregiver, that appeals to me). And the title of your current read cracked me up. It sounds wonderful. Happy Reading!

I hope you stayed healthy and are enjoying your time off work. It looks very green still over your way. Here the leaves have all turned and are falling off the trees. It’s even getting very chilly overnight (upper 30s F).

We’re having some very mild weather so whilst the leaves are changing colour most are still on the trees.
