Life Last Week

Thank you for all your well wishes last week. I had been feeling so much better but woke up yesterday feeling dreadful, took a test and was greeted by two lines. My husband only felt ill for a few days but my son and daughter both felt wiped out for more than a week.
We enjoyed a short break in the beautiful village of Masham, North Yorkshire. The cottage we rented was right in the heart of the village, with easy access to some great local shops, not to mention two breweries! There were also some stunning walks we took in the local area.
Last Weeks Books
Another mixed bag this week. It was my second read of The Quiche of Death and I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. It helped that I couldn’t remember the culprit for most of the book. Erased and Taking the Reins were both kindle unlimited reads and are books I will have forgotten about by the end of next week. A Billionaire’s Vow was an arc read and one that I enjoyed immensely. In fact, I was very pleasantly surprised by how captivating this story was.

Ocean’s Echo is a stand-alone, romantic space adventure, set in the same universe as Everina Maxwell’s hit debut, Winter’s Orbit.
When Tennal – a rich socialite, inveterate flirt, and walking disaster – is caught using his telepathic powers for illegal activities, the military decides to bind his mind to someone whose coercive powers are strong enough to control him.
Enter Lieutenant Surit, the child of a disgraced general. Out of a desperate need to restore a pension to his other parent, Lieutenant Surit agrees to be bound to Tennal and keep him conscripted in the army, a task that seems impossible even for someone with Surit’s ability to control minds.
Tennal just wants to escape, but Surit isn’t all that he seems. And their bond may just be the key to their freedom.
Looking forward to…

… getting rid of covid.
… still having a week of holiday.
… the amazing looking arcs waiting on my kindle.

I feel like everyone is going to get the virus at some point. Hope you are all feeling better. That book has a punny name – is Quiche of Death a cozy mystery?

Masham and the surrounding area are stunning. Definitely somewhere we will revisit. I’ve got a terrible cough and no energy but feel as though I’m coming out the other side of the covid experience.

I’m so sorry you are ill and hope you are fully better soon. I still love your pictures. My dad always used to take photos of any bridges with arches.

Those photos are lovely! I’m glad you were able to vacation before you got ill. And I hope you have (had) mild symptoms. I had to chuckle about the “two lines” reference. There was an ad on TV the other day and they were looking at a pregnancy test, but it had two pink lines – I was like … that’s not a pregnancy test, that’s a covid test!
