Sunday Wrap-Up ~~ 2022 Week #47 Rain, rain and more rain

Welcome to my weekly round-up post where I link up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberley @Caffeinated Reviewer as well as The Sunday Salon meme hosted by the wonderful Deb @Readerbuzz. Please pop by their blogs and show them a little love 💗.

Life Last Week

Whilst the weather continues to be mild – we saw plants flowering on our walk last week that should have died back a month or more ago – it is also turning quite wet. Commuting through city traffic in both the dark AND the rain is not my favourite way to spend time.

The damp weather meant our walk last week was a pretty misty affair, we found a few new paths to explore and enjoyed a warming cup of soup each when we eventually found a bench to sit on. We always see lots of horses, cats, squirrels and pigeons on our walks, but not many of the farms nearby seem to have livestock. So we loved seeing sheep and cows as we rambled through the countryside.

Last Weeks Books

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was one heck of a story with lots of clever weaving of historical artists and writers into the plot. Sadly it was overly long and whilst the writing was engaging there were quite a lot of scenes that could in all honesty have been cut from the book without affecting the overall story.
It took me so long to complete that I only managed the two books this week. I borrowed The Wee Free Men from the library. I haven’t read a Pratchett book in a few years and this is one I’ve wanted to catch up on for a while. Needless to say I loved it!

Currently Reading

There’s a bloody, semi-magical, genocidal war on. In her search to find out who she is, Ellinca has to dodge soldiers as well as the villainous Hilas Frope, who wants to execute her ASAP. If only he was the end of her problems. The creatures following her may be worse, for among them is the undead.

She’s got better things to do with her life than dying, saving people, or fighting wars. Those are for do-gooders and fools, not for her…not now, not ever.
The empire is falling apart, and every step seems to be taking her in an entirely wrong and incredibly unsafe direction.

Looking forward to…

… visiting blogs.

… reading good books.

… enjoying warming casseroles from the slow cooker.

  1. I love casseroles. I think it’s combination of my food mixing love, laziness when it comes to washing dishes, and the passive nature of slow-cooker cooking. You know I yelled “COW” when I saw your picture. Great one! I abhor driving in all precipitation. May all your drives be safe and uneventful.

  2. How are you feeling these days? How’s the new school building? And what is that HUGE animal in your photos?

I’ve been busy dealing with medical issues for my daughter, making appointments, etc. (She’s okay, but has to have major surgery.) I’m looking forward to the short week ahead – US Thanksgiving is Thursday and I’m off Wed – Friday.

  3. My daughter loves soup so I make a pot at least once a week. This time of year it seems fitting. The dark and cold just makes me tired. We haven’t gotten much rain but it’s cold enough at night it could be snow if we did. Stay warm and dry!

    1. The breed is called Highland Cattle. They are covered in long, thick fur/hair so that probably makes them look bigger than they are. I wouldn’t want to be in the field with one though.
