Today I’m featuring a book that has been out a little while, one I had the privilege and honour to be on the beta reading team for. The author is taking a (hopefully short) break from writing, as she also has a full time job to fill her days. However she has a wide range of books still available, including the Reckless Devotion duet that made me fall in love with her writing.

The author was inspired by a conversation she had with a friend from the UK, involving a show said friend was watching. That inspiration led to The Thing About Us, a full of feels, occasionally angsty, super hot story of forbidden love.

It started as nothing more than a little fun, but became so much more.

It was all fun and games until it wasn’t. Lies, deceit, and jealousy threaten to tear the three of us apart. We can have it all, but that’s not as easy as it sounds.

I never thought I’d show my best friend that side of me, but I had to take my one shot or regret it forever.

It was only supposed to be one night of something I didn’t understand and never wanted, but it became so much more.

They want me to choose, but I want them both. They just have to admit they want it, too.

The thing about us? We can make it work…even if we have to fight to keep it together.

**The Thing About Us is a standalone MMF Menage romance about two best friends and the woman they both want. It is intended for mature readers over 18.

The three of us pile into the back of the car and before we barely start moving, Georgie is kissing Ben and pulling my shirt to bring me closer. I move closer, stroking her hair as she and Ben make out, trying to analyze my feelings. The whole night has been tinged with sexual tension. Now, knowing Ben is willing to go as far with this as possible, I have to get on board or get out. I just can’t understand why watching them is turning me on so much.I let my hand move down her body over her hip, then around the front where I inch my way up to her tits. Ben starts kissing her neck, freeing her mouth for me to move in. I kiss her as his hands move into her hair. When Ben starts kissing her cleavage, she moans softly, driving me a little closer to the edge. Feeling a bit freer, I let my hand grope her through her dress, and she responds by gripping my dick through my trousers. We’re interrupted when the car stops and the driver announces we’re back at Georgie’s place. Ben opens the door and exits the car, but I grab Georgie’s wrist stopping her.“Are you sure you want us to come in? Both of us.”“I’m sure, Luc. Let’s go.”I tell the driver we’re done for the night and walk up to the door where Ben is kissing a giggling Georgie on the neck whilst she unlocks the door. To say I’m in all new territory is an understatement. I’m well versed in multiple women scenarios thanks to my uni days, but another man? Never. My best mate? Definitely never. The truth is, I want Georgie enough to give it a go.

A steamy and full of feels romance with a twist
There is a saying that the course of true love never did run smooth, and that is true of this tale here. There is angst and there is personal conflict, but given both the unusual situation AND their personal histories it felt a natural part of the story.

I really liked all three main characters, though I perhaps would have liked just a little more of Georgie’s ‘voice’. That said, there was certainly enough from her POV to allow me to feel a connection to her character. The fact that this is written mainly from the two male’s perspective is quite unusual, but totally worked for me. Luc and Ben could have easily blurred into one, but both retained their own distinct character. In fact Ben, Luc and Georgie were all very consistent, developed and likeable characters.

As a Brit I also thought the author did an excellent job of making Luc sound English. She also wrote a very engaging and captivating tale. This is a very steamy and slightly taboo story, but also an emotion filled and very heart warming one.

A captivating and entertaining contemporary romance

Mind the Line is a boss-employee contemporary romance with plenty of feels plus a wonderful hero and an amazing heroine. I’m a huge fan of this talented but underrated author. Experience has proven that I will usually enjoy any book with her name on and this one didn’t disappoint either. Whilst workplace ‘taboo’ romances are usually fun to read, this had the added benefit of being mainly set in the UK, that made it a definite must read for me!

I loved Ms Domenico’s writing, her characters are really well developed and they draw you completely into the story. I would so very much love to meet Ellis and Avery in real life, I want to know David, Annabel and Willis too.

Avery is a PR Miss Fixit, very successful and in demand, until a lying diva shows just how fickle friends are in LA. Ellis is a very private business man, dogged by the false accusations of a disgruntled former employee. Avery’s sister and brother-in-law introduce them, hoping they can work together and be the answer the other one needs. Trouble is they are hugely attracted to each other too, but need to keep things on a purely professional footing. Can they fight their chemistry and, if not, what will the consequences be?

Avery was so focused and very professional and was strong enough to stand up to Ellis when necessary. I really liked her and found her to be very easy to believe in too. As a Brit I was really impressed with how the author made both Ellis and David feel so English. I loved the little words and phrases that she threw in, almost unnoticeable to me, that definitely boosted that ‘Britishness’ factor.

The pace of the book was good, the story really held my attention and, despite being a slow burn, it had a very steamy feel to it with lots of sexual tension between Ellis and Avery. In fact this is a book that is full of emotion, not only between the main characters but also within their circle of family and friends.

It just felt nicely different to so many bland and generic contemporary romances. This is one heck of a read that I am more than happy to recommend to family, friends and anyone looking for a well written and entertaining story.

Ellis Worthington has something I need, and I refuse to be intimidated by his demanding reputation. I can barely stand him, but I need a job. I make my living tackling other people’s problems. The bigger the scandal, the more I want in—at least until I’m the center of the scandal. Now, I need Ellis and his mess to redeem myself.

My first challenge is convincing him to take me on. The second is ignoring the relentless attraction between us. But the biggest challenge? The more time I spend with him, the more I wonder if crossing that invisible line is worth risking everything.

Tagline: Don’t mix business and pleasure. Simple. Until it isn’t.

Jennifer Domenico writes contemporary and erotic romances. She loves alpha males with a soft spot, flawed characters, and strong, sassy women. Her characters usually have a side of kink and aren’t afraid to demand what they want. The author doesn’t apologize for that. She’s a sucker for a happy ending as long as it comes with a lot of heat.

She lives in Phoenix, Arizona but is a Bostonian at heart. The way to her heart can be reached with a foreign accent, a shot of Fireball, and an unlimited supply of cupcakes.

She is also known under her alter ego, Jaelyn LaStoria, author of time travel romances, because why not.
