It’s the start of something huge. From New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, comes a new Dark Romance full of decadent angst, monstrous heroes, and pages chock-full of lust.
A house hidden in the middle of nowhere. A man who’s lived alone for a decade. A woman who trespasses on his solitude. A love full of hate as well as hunger.
The thing about my life is…I was never in control of it. I just I thought I was. I thought I had everything figured out—a good career, fun hobbies, a bright future, but everything changed when I found an ivy-cloaked house, tucked in a forgotten valley, hiding the man who would corrupt my world forever. I thought I was successful, until he showed me fortune and happiness could be snatched away in an instant. I believed I was blessed, but really, I was cursed.
Cursed to become a plaything for a monster.
Cursed to become a prisoner just because I trespassed.
Now, I know nothing. I am nothing. I’m just his.
Holy S*** – Rowan It’s heartbreaking but soooooo good – Effie This story is such an emotional rollercoaster!!! Phenomenal. I could feel all the emotions! – Melissa It’s been a long time since I was this excited over a book! – Rochelle

Six Book Series you can’t wait to get into or Series you’re dying to read
Six For Sunday is a meme hosted each week by A Little But A Lot. May’s theme is series, with the prompt this week being a series you are looking forward to reading or want to get into.
There are so many I could choose for this. I have The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tokien sat unread on my bookshelves, along with Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay Trilogy. However as a HUGE advocate of indie authors, I’m going to feature some of the back lists that I have on my radar but haven’t yet succeeded in reading.
The shameful truth about my list is that I actually own many of the books mentioned, and have done for some considerable time. On a positive note I HAVE started making headway through clearing books from my “bought-it-so-read-it” list. So at least things are now moving in the right direction!
Due to their obsession with censorship, Amazon banned the individual books of Marissa Honeycut’s Life of Anna series it does, however, still sell the ‘box set’ book. They also refuse to sell the first book of Lily White’s Masters series, that book is available on Smashwords and the author’s website.
“They call me devil, liar, thief. In whispers, they call me Soul Eater. They’re right. I’m all those things—and more.” Kicked out of the underworld and cursed to walk this earth for all eternity, Ace Dante finds solace in helping others avoid the wrath of the gods. But when warrior-bitch, Queen of Cats, and Ace’s ex-wife, Bastet, hires him to stop whoever is slaughtering her blessed women, Ace is caught between two of the most powerful deities to have ever existed: Isis and Osiris. The once-revered gods aren’t dead. They’re back. And Ace is in their way. Welcome to a New York where the ancient gods roam. Dark, action-packed urban fantasy for fans of Richard Kadrey, Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne and Ilona Andrews.
Soul Eater complete series reading order: Hidden Blade, #1 Witches’ Bane, #2 See No Evil, #3 Scorpion Trap, #4 Serpent’s Game, #5 Edge of Forever, #6
Supernatural Bounty Hunter isn’t the sort of thing you see on LinkedIn. But with a rare type of magic like mine, I don’t have many options. So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day. Knowing I’m poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I’ll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case. Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I’m stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn’t know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.
It is said that when war threatens the world, one individual will be selected by prophecy to lead the Shadow Warriors out of the Land of Mist and reclaim the freedom which has been stolen. Shanti has grown up under the constant threat of war. Since she helped her people defeat a raiding party by using a special power, she’s been a hunted woman. Carrying rare abilities and an uncanny fighting aptitude, Shanti is the only hope of salvation for her people. The problem is, she doesn’t believe in her own divinity, and when she flounders, she nearly fails in the duty hanging so heavy on her shoulders. It seems like any other day when Sanders and his band of misfit boys find a foreign woman clinging to life in the wastelands. Oblivious to the weapon they now have in their possession, they are content to harbor the mysterious woman until she is well enough to continue her journey. But when the war spreads its arms and lands on her borrowed doorstep, Shanti has no choice but to reveal her secrets, plunging her saviors into danger. If they band with her, they will face certain death. But to trade her to Xandre, the warlord desperate to add her to his war machine, would be to give up their entire way of life. War is coming. The only choice becomes: Which side do you choose?
A dark, twisted, depraved story of hope and love. Anna’s entire life was planned out before she was born. Her entire purpose is to serve those in control and be the perfect tool to control everyone around them. One man will seek to take her unique gifts into himself and become both the source of power and the hand that wields it. But Anna has a vision of a man. A man whom her Master is determined to discover and destroy. A man who will change Anna’s life forever. The Life of Anna follows the naive and innocent Anna as she enters a dark world of greed, politics, and an evil puppet master who pulls the strings to her world. And beyond. Readers be warned, for this journey is not for the faint of heart. You are about to venture into a world of dark plots, sinister villains, and deeply erotic taboo encounters. Are you brave enough to enter the Life of Anna?
I am a Master. You must know this fact to understand my story. I capture women. I break them down. And I rebuild them. If they are lucky, they are sold into the professional hands of another Master. If they are less fortunate, they are buried beneath the ground, never to be thought of again. I lust for the control, I demand absolute submission and my body yearns to warp the minds of those I train. Power is the only thing I’ll ever need and I am addicted to the feeling of ultimate control. I am wealthy, good-looking, educated and charming. And I am – in no way – a good man. I do not want love. I do not want kindness. She thought she could change me by giving me the two things I knew I never wanted. She was wrong.
“I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It’s undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you’ve paid off your debts.” Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter. She is no longer free. Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey. There are no rules. Only payments.
Today I’m joining in with #SixForSunday, hosted by A Little But a Lot. The topic this week is to find 6 books on my TBR that I predict will be a 5 star read. Since my TBR list is currently standing at 705 books I had plenty to choose from 😂.
“There was a boy once. A boy who wasn’t strong enough to save me when I was taken.”
“There was a girl once. A girl called Tess Snow who sat with me in the dark waiting to be sold.”
“There was an owner once. An owner who bought me, entrapped me, and made me his unwilling goddess.”
Eleanor Grace is a naïve dreamer. Trusting and young, she believes her book-loving boyfriend can save her when her freedom is snatched and sold. Squirreled away to an island at midnight, delivered to a man even darkness won’t touch, she’s bound by a contract.
Four men. Four fantasies. Four pieces of her soul.
Sullivan Sinclair is the giver of fantasies. Any wish, any desire—he is the master at quenching even the filthiest appetites. His private paradise and perfectly trained goddesses are there for one purpose: to ensure every guest is extremely well satisfied.
He bought her. He trapped her. She belongs to him.
I’ve heard great things from my Goodreads friends about this book, great things indeed. It’s a dark romance series by a very popular indie author. I’ve not read any of her truly dark work before, though I do have the Indebted series on my ereader and I’m looking forward to reading them all.
I didn’t earn the name Godkiller, but in three days I’ll own it.
Witches are disappearing all over New York, and Ace Dante couldn’t care less. Until one holds his friend at gunpoint, demanding Ace take the job.
The witch produces his girlfriend’s severed arm, bearing an unusual hieroglyph, and Ace starts to care a whole lot more. He recognizes that mark. It’s connected to Ace in ways he doesn’t yet understand. But why is it on a dead witch’s arm? Missing witches and severed arms aren’t Ace’s only problems. With a new name around his neck—Godkiller—Ace has a promise to uphold. He has three days to kill the god, Thoth. Or risk Osiris’ wrath. The last time he defied Osiris, he earned a curse that crippled his life and turned him into Osiris’ puppet for eternity.
This time, Osiris won’t be as lenient. Ace must kill Thoth. An impossible task. It takes a god to kill a god, and Ace is just a washed-up mercenary. Isn’t he?
As the spells are cast and the truth is revealed, Ace realizes there’s only one way out.
He must become the monster the gods fear him to be.
The Soul Eater has a new name, and now, nobody is safe.
Having read and loved book #1 in the series, I need to finish working my way through this mythological/urban fantasy series. This author’s strong characters and twisty plots guarentee a story I will enjoy.
This BREN & SIX novella contains massive spoilers for the Beyond series. It is meant for existing fans of the series who want to get a glimpse of what life looks like for their favorite characters after The End. It may be confusing and unsatisfying for readers not familiar with the world and characters. If you haven’t read the series, please proceed with caution…
O’Kane for Life…
Winning a war might be enough for most people, but Bren and Six aren’t interested in kicking back to enjoy peace. Not when they finally have the time—and resources—to tackle the mess left behind in the sector they now rule.
Especially the orphaned street kids.
Six remembers how hard it is to trust. Bren remembers how hard it is to be patient. Together, they have the skills and the power to make a better world than the one they grew up in—but only if they can be honest with each other about the future they want.
Not just for Sector Three, but for themselves.
The original O’Kane series of books are spellbinding, they are a rough, tough, no holds bared, kinky dystopian smorgasbord. Once you join you are an O’Kane for life and I can’t recommend this series highly enough.
A bureaucrat and an interstellar trader must overcome treachery and their broken past to save the last inhabitants of a dying planet. Frontier planet Polaris-Gamma is dying, afflicted by a suspiciously-timed blight that destroys all crops. Worse, the whole system is now under military quarantine by the Central Galactic Concordance to prevent the catastrophic blight from spreading. The settlers must escape—or perish.
Caught behind the blockade, independent trader Gavril Danilovich finds his interstellar trading ship commandeered in the desperate plan to escape. He tells himself that’s the only reason he stays, and not because he’s worried about the woman he walked out on two years ago—who still lives on Pol-G.
Government supply depot manager Anitra Helden races to gather the last of Pol-G’s assets. Her plan to launch a mothballed freighter off Pol-G may be crazy—but it can work, if she can talk Gavril into helping. Their precious cargo? Four thousand stranded colonists.
Can Anitra and Gavril, and their ragtag crew get past the deadly military blockade?
Whilst there are elements of romance in these books, they focus is very much on the space opera side of things. Whenever I read a book by this author I decide that I really should get through her backlist – however life has a habit of getting in the way of that plan! It’s good to remind myself of just how much I enjoy Ms Van Natta’s writing.
Lauren was just a girl looking to make a fresh start in New York City, until she meets the man that will change everything she thought she knew. Spanning over two years, from the very beginning, until the sweet end, delve into the Volkov Bratva world and learn how it all began.
Mishca and Lauren: The Complete Collection contains the first three novels of the Volkov Bratva Series, In the Beginning, Until the End, and The Final Hour, as well as the companion novella, Time Stood Still…
London Miller seems to have created a genre all of her own. Whilst these might at first glance fall under the mafia romance genre, her plots and characters are far too complex for such a simple definition. The main male character in this is the brother to Red, who is part of the Den of Mercenaries, a series which feeds into the unparalleled Kingmaker Sage. All of them blend organised crime, romantic suspense and plot twists galore to produce a captivating series of books.
After a thousand years, Cyrus Davidon returns to Reikonos, only to find things are not as he has left them. Hope has fled, and things appear darker than ever. Surrounded by old friends who have come with him and meeting new allies, Cyrus must confront the dark forces that hold his home city in their grip.
This has languished on my ereader for far too long. I devoured this series when it first came out, waiting on tenterhooks for the next release. There was a wait between book #8, which concluded the original series, and this book. And whilst I would never give up my ereader, purchases do get forgotten when there is nothing physical sat on a shelf to remind you to pick them up and read them.
