Contender:
The Everyday Heroes World
by Tiffani Lynn

Whilst “straight” contemporary romance isn’t my go-to in reading terms, the author Tiffani Lynn definitely is. And she didn’t disappoint in this gentle, yet emotional story of two imperfect people finding their HEA. She had me sobbing within the first few pages – always a sign of great writing.

Normally if I struggle with a character it’s with an overbearing, conceited and irritating hero but, despite Keegan being a hot shot champion boxer with a troubled background. he was actually very balanced and immensely likeable. I couldn’t always say the same about Collins. Overall she had led a fairly charmed life, not easy, not perfect but comfortable. So the enormous chip on her shoulder occasionally made her quite irritating. However the author always managed to pull things back and allow me to forgive her, thus providing an enjoyable read that was neither too bland nor too angsty.

The book is quite short, perhaps because it’s part of another author’s “world”, so whilst we had well developed, complex characters it did feel as though the relationship side of things was a little rushed. Not so much in timeline context but rather that we didn’t get much opportunity to see Collins and Keegan just spending relaxed time with one another. I just needed a little more convincing of the strength of their feelings, a little more time with just the focus on them together but not arguing. It would have transformed this from a really good to a really great read for me.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Genre – Contemporary Romance

Tiffany Lynn’s Contender is a sexy, heartfelt, contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Worlds project.
Officer Collins Sutton can take care of herself…
Returning to Sunnyville was never part of the plan, but after the death of their mother, she’s home to help care for her disabled brother. As she finds her footing being back in her hometown her path crosses with the new guy in town. Sexy, mysterious and not swayed by her usual brush off… Sunnyville might not be big enough for both of them.
Boxer Keegan “The Punisher” Ranger was once the light heavyweight champion of the world but he lost his passion for fighting when his mentor died. Now he’s focusing on building his new gym… and life. After taking verbal blows from Officer Sutton, the sassy redheaded sister of his new gym helper, he realizes something might finally be worth fighting for again.
Collins isn’t convinced that Keegan is the good guy everyone else in town thinks he is and moves in for a better look. However, when he betrays the most important person in her life he just might lose his shot at being the only contender for her heart.

Hot SEAL alert

Protecting Lucianna
(Special Forces: Operation Alpha)
by Tiffani Lynn

Reading a Tiffani Lynn book is like coming home…

You’ve donned loose clothing, snuggled onto the couch, have a blanket to keep you cosy and a glass or cup of something warming. I always find myself lost within the pages of her books, falling in love with the characters as they fall in love with each other.

I absolutely adored Protecting Lucianna and could have happily stayed in their world forever. In fact the only thing that would have made this book better is if it had been longer. Don’t read that as a criticism though, rather it is a selfish wish because I was enjoying the story so very much. The story of two broken souls who helped each other find healing and the strength to move on from traumatic events.

Lucianna was a side character in Saving Simone, however this reads very easily as a stand alone story in it’s own right. The vast majority of the story takes place over a handful of days, but those are some of the most intense of days. This couple speak to each other, they bare their souls and communicate on a level that helps you believe in the bond forming between them, convinces you of their love. Both main characters are believable and incredibly likeable, neither is perfect, instead they feel like actual people. Whilst the story deals with some fairly tough issues, it retained a gentleness to it, a serenity born of strength, determination and love.

A couple of the reasons that I love Tiffani Lynn books are that she doesn’t do unnecessary angst because of a lack of communication and she doesn’t make every woman other than the heroine a bitch. There is never that secret that one person knows they need to share but never quite does, until everything blows up in their face. Problems are faced together or with a network of genuine, caring friends.

This is a perfect read to relax with, allowing you to de-stress and recharge ones batteries whilst enjoying a well written, delightful love story.

Entertainment lawyer Lucianna Ortiz is a survivor. After a horrific incident nearly took her life, she lives on the edge of being afraid of everything and not feeling anything at all. Pulling away from the people she loves most, she takes a trip. But when Lucianna finds herself stranded on a St. Augustine beach, she’s anything but alone. Devlin’s quiet blue eyes hold her captive and his capable hands make her feel… safe.

Navy SEAL Devlin “Devil” Byrne went into the service after his little sister drowned. Just seventeen years old, a piece of him died that day too. Consumed by guilt, he keeps to himself, saving those he can and making amends the only way he knows how. When he meets beautiful and curvy Lucianna on the beach, he can’t help but be drawn to her brokenness, which mirrors his own. He learns that protecting someone is sometimes more about their heart than their body.

With a new year on the horizon, and Christmas approaching, both are struggling to overcome the past before it takes them under. Devlin’s about to discover that protecting Lucianna could be the key to saving himself.

FLORIDA VETERANS #3

Saving Simone (Florida Veterans Book 3)

MY REVIEW – 4.5 STARS

Quite simply a great read

Saving Simone is a shorter novel, but it certainly doesn’t lack in story, emotion or depth. It starts with an incredibly steamy encounter between Simone and Thomas, followed by a very up and down relationship. However none of the angst felt over-the-top or unnecessary, which is what I enjoy most about books by this author. Her stories feel ‘real’, as do her characters and you can’t help but be drawn into the story. It engaged my emotions, leaving my hugely invested in these characters and their story.

I don’t read many ‘straight’ contemporary romances, I find the majority of them fail to capture my interest. However I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will enjoy a book written by Tiffani Lynn. Her characters are so believable they feel like friends, the plots draw you in and the writing is superb. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book and can’t wait for the next one.

BLURB

Successful romance novelist Simone Sayer may know how to write the perfect love story, but she hasn’t yet lived one. While her love life remains non-existent, the light of her life is her eight-year-old son, Gavin.

Everything changed for them when one of her books was made into a movie, affording her the opportunity to write full-time. But she can’t help but feel like something, or more likely someone, is still missing.

Army Green Beret Veteran Thomas Wade uses his skills as a bodyguard for hire at his brother’s firm– Sunset Security. Because of his line of work, relationships have never been his thing. Bringing random women home was enough, until the night he meets a sexy stranger in a hotel bar.

It turns out these two have more in common than being lonely. From chemistry to catastrophe, everything falls apart before it can begin. Just when they thought they would never see each other again, they find themselves in an untenable situation.

Thomas will risk his life to save Simone, but it could cost them both their hearts.
