Sunday Wrap-Up ~~ 2022 Week #13

Welcome to my weekly round-up post where I link up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberley @Caffeinated Reviewer as well as The Sunday Salon meme hosted by the wonderful Deb @Readerbuzz. Do please pop by their blogs and show them a little love 💗.

Life Last Week

This has been a glorious week weather-wise with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. Typically for Britain, the forecast for next week is cold with the possibility of snow! It’s amazing how a little bit of sunshine makes everything so much easier to bear.

Petrol (gasoline) prices continue to climb rapidly. I’d congratulated myself on finding somewhere selling basic unleaded at £1.64 per litre ($9.82 per gallon) only to find it 4p cheaper elsewhere ($9.59). To add insult to injury a day after topping up the Chancellor of the Exchequer lowered the tax on fuel by a further 5p per litre (30c per gallon).

As I write the news from Ukraine, whilst still devastating, has some positive undertones. Though it looks as though he still wants to steal sovereignty of parts of Ukraine, we can only hope that despite Putin’s evil and madness he will withdraw his troops and stop this horrific slaughter of innocent people.

Last Weeks Books

Buckled was a group Buddy Read. I enjoyed this one a lot more than book #1, which I DNF’d due to how ridiculously far-fetched the story became. It included the hero helping the heroine to overcome rape trauma and PTSD after reading about it on the internet. I didn’t know google gave out degrees and diplomas!
Demons is book #4 of an absolutely cracking Urban Fantasy series – one that is far better than the bare-chested images on the covers would suggest. It does contain adult content but is fast-paced, funny and has a great heroine.
Stone Broke Heiress was a solid read but it didn’t wow me. It’s a debut book and the author clearly has talent, so I am definitely open to reading more of her work in the future.

Currently Reading

A mysterious device with unknown powers
A man desperate to impress a tyrant King
A city plunged into deadly turmoil
Never trust a demon. Or fall in love with a witch.

A witch summons supernatural assistance in her attempt to overthrow a tyrant king but discovers the key to the king’s downfall lies instead in the hands of a boy.
In a world where the King has supreme power which he uses to oppress and terrorise, a fifteen-year old’s attempt to impress has catastrophic results. His only hope of saving his friends lies in an uneasy alliance with his father’s arch-enemy in a desperate quest to discover the source of the power he has unleashed. Pursued by the wrath of the King and denizens of the underworld, they make a dash for safety in the company of a sorceress who retains a steely ambition to usurp the King.
Two young girls, caught up in the mayhem, become separated from their parents and are forced to flee the city in the company of an itinerant ruffian who wants nothing more than a quiet life without responsibility. His worst fears are realised as he fights to keep the girls safe against overwhelming odds.

Looking forward to…

… the Easter Break

… sunshine.

… summer.

  1. Gas prices are horrible. Here it’s not as bad as yours but people are still feeling it. And snow forecasted!!! It’s been cooler here the last few days but nowhere near cold enough for snow. Hope you have a wonderful week with glorious sunshine and no snow!

  2. Beautiful pictures! Our weather has been really nice the past few days. It’s supposed to stay nice for a couple more days and then dip back down. Hopefully, it won’t snow. The gas prices here are horrible too. It’s so crazy and annoying! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you have a good week!

  4. I always enjoy seeing your photos! I am so sad for the people of Ukraine. They are fighting for us as well as themselves. It’s also rough how much the war will affect prices on things around the world. I think Easter is only about 3 weeks away and that will be a couple more days off.

  5. Most people in the U.S. have no idea how bad gas prices are out there. I hear so many complaints because it’s over $4/gal. I have just started shaking my head and keeping my mouth shut; no use trying to explain global market costs to folks.

I see some green in your photos – spring is coming. We have had a few lovely days here, as well, but today the high is 32F and it’s super windy. No snow, but still… brrr…
