Sunday Wrap-Up ~~ 2022 Week #35 Summer’s Nearly Over

Welcome to my weekly round-up post where I link up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberley @Caffeinated Reviewer as well as The Sunday Salon meme hosted by the wonderful Deb @Readerbuzz. Do please pop by their blogs and show them a little love 💗.

Life Last Week

We had a safe if somewhat rainy, journey home from Wales. It left us all wanting to visit again soon – though maybe a region that is a little easier (and quicker) to get to. Perhaps it’s just knowing that the school summer break is drawing to a close but I feel as though the daylight has a more autumnal golden glow to it. Temperatures are still very pleasant, generally somewhere in the low 20s C (low 60s F).

The gasworks on the road outside our property have finally been completed this week. We have had barriers, excavations and a portacabin cluttering up the road for a couple of months with, at times, only brief glimpses of any workmen. However, since they were replacing very old (possibly 100 years) cast-iron gas pipes I guess the benefits outweigh the disruption!

Last Weeks Books

After barely reading anything the week before last, this was not only a success in terms of finishing books but also in how much I loved them. I would recommend all four of these books – though the last one is the final book of a quintet so cannot be read stand-alone.

Currently Reading

An alien goddess who shapeshifted into the form of a porn star teams up with a defunct freedom fighter to save the solar system.

Tohva Blayde faked his own death five years ago when he joined the Shadows, a group of galactic freedom fighters. Now he figures he must have died for real, because that’s the only explanation for finding himself on a dead planet kissing his favorite actress.

Ioanna Ryder is an alien-goddess and everything she knows about humanity she learned from watching the erotic movies she found on a spaceship that crashed into her homeworld. Desperate to find her missing sister, Io shapeshifts into the image of a famous actress hoping to convince a human pilot to help her.

Whether he’s really dead or not, Tohva agrees to travel into the heart of enemy territory to rescue Io’s sister. Along the way, their newly discovered passion for one another grows. But Io really is an alien-goddess and will live forever. Tohva will not. Even if they succeed and save both sister and solar system, will their differences destroy their only chance for love?

Looking forward to…

… new challenges at work.

… autumn sunshine.

… the bank holiday weekend.

  1. I missed Wales when we came home a couple of weeks ago. It’s a lovely place.

Ergh there are so many works going on around here! You can’t travel anywhere for roadworks!

    Have a great week ahead!

  4. I’m feeling down due to the end of summer, as well. My daughter heads back this week (11th grade), we take my son to first year college this Friday, and I head back to work next week. I’m so sad.

I’m totally lol’ing over this book description: “An alien goddess who shapeshifted into the form of a porn star teams up with a defunct freedom fighter to save the solar system.” I can’t wait to read your review.

    1. I’ll be honest that I didn’t really read the blurb, I picked it up after enjoying other books by the author. It is a corker of a description though.
