Sunday Wrap-Up

Each Sunday I will be rounding up my week and linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberley @Caffeinated Reviewer as well as The Sunday Salon meme hosted by the wonderful Deb @Readerbuzz. Do please pop by their blogs and show them a little love 💗.

Life Last Week

Monday was a late summer Bank Holiday in some parts of the UK. We went for a very pleasant walk with the youngest-though-not-so-young child at a local nature reserve, where we spotted several birds of prey as well as observing lots of waterfowl on the lakes.

Wednesday was a return back to work after the long summer break. I love teaching but I definitely love the holidays too!

I finished a book that I had previously DNF’d at 11%. I always try to get to 20-25% depending on book length and that policy paid off as I really enjoyed Dream of Dragons once the story got going. Mystic Bonds lacked the emotional connection I look for in a story, but it certainly had a great plot. I also did a little more beta reading.

Currently Reading

It’s been a while since I’ve read science fiction without any romance, but this is certainly hitting the mark thus far.

Looking forward to…

…hopefully watching our daughter’s dance show. It has been postponed countless times due to Covid restrictions and will eventually take place in the beer garden of a local village pub.

I’m also looking forward to autumn sunlight that gives everything a beautiful golden glow, a few days in Newhaven, East Sussex in October and helping a new group of students find the educational pathway best suited to their needs.

  1. Your flower photos are beautiful. I agree with you about the early-autumn light being so intense and vivid.

  2. I’m glad you enjoyed Dream of Dragons once you gave it another go. I usually DNF after 20-25% if it’s not going well too. I figure that, by experience, if it’s not happening by then it’s not going to happen. I always tell publishers how far I got and that it was headed for a low rating for me, so I decided to DNF. I feel like they would rather I did that too.

  3. I hope the school year has gotten off to a good start for you. I am glad you were able to visit the nature preserve and loved the photos you shared. I am glad you are enjoying Stolen Earth. It sounds like a good one. I hope your daughter’s dance show will finally be able to happen. Take care and have a good week!

    1. The dance show was really good, and it felt very relaxed being held outdoors, I wouldn’t have enjoyed sitting in a crowded auditorium. Happy reading!

  4. I love the photos from the nature reserve and the garden photos. It’s lovely that you were able to see some raptors at the reserve.

Glad you were able to try again with Dream of Dragons, and I’m glad that it turned out so well for you. Sometimes I give up too soon!
