Looking back, looking forward

One of the reasons I love Goodreads is that it allows me to easily keep track of my books. I’ve made some great friends on their and joined some amazing groups that have introduced me to some wonderful new authors.

Here’s the round-up of my book year, though it doesn’t include my beta reading.

My average rating was much higher this year than last. That is because I became much more particular about whose books I arc read, tending to stick with more familiar authors and taking few chances on unfamiliar names.

I’m glad I didn’t stick to that rule religiously because I did find a few great new authors. This year I’m stepping back from the majority of my arc groups. I still love those authors but I hardly had any opportunity to read a book I had chosen. With an ever growing list of purchased books that still haven’t been read I’ve decided to spend at least the next year remedying that issue.

I took part in my first reading challenge on goodreads, with the Dark Erotica group and joined in the fun with the Secret Santa Gift Exchange.

The challenge was to read your way through the alphabet with books with titles that start with a different letter of the alphabet. (The letters Q, Y, X, and Z could be anywhere in the title.) All books had to be at least 100 pages and were to be Dark, BDSM, Taboo, Horror or Suspense/Thriller books with romance or erotica.

I very nearly completed it twice, but struggled with G, K and N. Only managing to read one qualifying book whose title started with the letter.
